The Conservation Fund developed this accuracy table. site acreage allowable error between deed acreage and digitized acreage
0 - 10 less than 50% 10 - 100 less than 35% 100 and above less than 25%
Boundaries were hand-drawn on USGS 1:24,000 scale quadrangles and then manually digitized. Checkplots were created at 1:24,000 scale to ensure accuracy. A spreadsheet database was used to ensure attribute accuracy.
Five sites were left out of the final coverage because their acreage as digitized was in excess of the allowable error as defined by The Conservation Fund:
Lake Brandt Greenway - Piedmont Land Conservancy Little Alamance Creek - Piedmont Land Conservancy Shipyard Landing Preserve - North Carolina Coastal Land Trust Turkey Creek - Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy Walcott - Pacolet Area Conservancy
Using ESRI's ARC/INFO GIS software, the data set was built for arc and polygon topology using the "build" command. The data set was then cleaned with a fuzzy tolerance of (1 meter.) Topology has not been edited since the last build or clean.
