The only two sites in this
group that rate good are Ox Creek and Reems Creek at Ox Creek. Both of these
sites are actually in a more rural area nearer the headwaters of Reems Creek.
Neither of these sites has shown very serious water quality problems and
median levels of parameters analyzed are relatively low.
Water quality in Reems Creek deteriorates as it flows downstream. The upstream sites at Ox Creek and Reems Creek are good, but the two downstream sites are rated only fair. The midstream site on Reems Creek at Reems Creek Road shows the highest median heavy metals concentrations and the greatest extremes in heavy metals concentrations. The downstream site on Reems Creek at the French Broad River shows the greatest extremes in sediment and nutrient concentrations. |
